Published by Zellev Music (A0.910914). the piece is relatively unknown to the major cellist and piano front.Mélanie Hélène Bonis, known as Mel Bonis (21 January 1858 – 18 March 1937), was a prolific French late-Romantic composer. She wrote more than 300 pieces, including works for piano solo and four hands, organ pieces, chamber music, mélodies, choral music, a mass, and works for orchestra. She attended the Paris Conservatoire, where her teachers included Cesar Franck, Ernest Guiraud, and Auguste Bazille. the piece consisted of 3 movements. Moderato quasi Andante - AllegrettoTrès lentFinal. Moderato molto - Allegro con fuoco - Quasi andante - Lento - Mouvement de l'allegro - Vivo - Mouvement de l'allegro - Maestoso - Mouvement de l'allegro sans presserit was dedicated to A Maurice Demaison. A masterpiece by Mel Bonis, French female composer who isn't forgotten, she just isn't yet discovered by the wide audience. My five cents to make it happen. This is just one of more than 300 compositions from her ouevre. Originally, it is composed for violoncello and piano, but the majority of cellists seem not to care very much about its existence... and we, double bassists are missing so badly such great sonatas -Božo Paradžik Scriabin: Prelude Op. 11 No. 2 for Cello & Piano

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549463 Composed by Aleksandr Scriabin (1871 - 1915). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499715. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549463). Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores. Background First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt. Forms Likewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality. Philosophy Scriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys. Synesthesia He also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors.  Multimedia Hence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain. Modern Performances In modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen. The Swallows for cello and piano

Far in the distant Nile Valley down down nameless highways unknown. They never came back to adorn the Spring with heady song, to chant with the winds the green meadow, rebuild abandoned nests. They died on distant mountains, plains afar, unable to return. Far away. Can they subsist with the love of our hearts or our gardens` blossoms gay or our joyous vernal rains? They who died on the way unfinished home. Far in the distant Nile Valley. Unable to return. Aria: 'Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix' (Act II) from Samson et Dalila, Op. 47 (arr. for Cello & Piano)

However, the Hebrew hero Samson killed the governor of Gaza. In revenge, the Philistine beauty Delilah tempted Samson to reveal his weakness. This led to the aria Mon cÅ“ur s'ouvre à ta voix, sung at the climax of Delilah's seduction. The aria, written for a mezzo-soprano, beautifully expresses the seductive atmosphere and Delilah's intense passion. It's considered one of the finest arias in all opera. In the scores, the solo part plays both Delilah's and Samson's parts. In the duets period, Delilah's part is played by the piano and the solo instrument plays Samson's part. Samson's part is written in a lower range, emphasizing the contrast with Delilah's part. The piece is written in D-flat major, which can be challenging for some string players. Therefore, there is a version in G major. Aria: 'Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix' from Samson et Dalila, Op. 47 in G Major (for Cello & Piano)

Cello and piano - Moderately Difficult - SKU: MQ.8052-E Composed by David Conte. Score & instrument part. 67 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8052-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8052-E). Sonata for Violoncello and Piano was written especially for cellist Emil Miland. As a performer, Mr. Miland has frequently appeared with many of the world’s finest singers, and his playing for me has always embodied many features of vocal technique, including a special kind of portamento, and varying speeds of vibrati. To that end, I fashioned in this piece long, arching melodies that are unabashedly lyrical and romantic in character. The first movement, marked Allegro Moderato Appassionato, is cast in an expansive sonata-allegro form, and its trajectory unfolds with bold, sweeping gestures. Though firmly in D Major, the entire melodic and harmonic texture of the movement is highly chromatic, giving the musical character a sense of heightened inflection and intensity. -David ConteIncludes score and part.
